About the composer

JULIA GYTRI (book and lyrics) and AVI AMON (music) joined forces at the Graduate Musical Theatre writing program at NYU. There, they began work on "The White City," exploring the innovation present at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair and how it aided the murders of H. H. Holmes, America's first recognized serial killer.

The show was selected for the 2014 National Music Theater Conference at the O'Neill Theater Center, was presented at Ball State University as part of the 2014 Discovery New Musical Festival, and was a finalist for the 2014 Larson Grant.

It also received positive reviews from all four of the creators' parents.

Their one-act musical, "Step on a Crack," debuted in March 2014 with the Prospect Theatre Company. Other upcoming projects include "Salonika," a fusion of obscure fairy tales paralleled with the extermination of the Jews of Salonika, Greece and "Tickets to the Gun Show," a futuristic examination of human courtship and gender norms inspired by the segregated male and female tribes in ancient Greece.
